We had an exciting weekend at our Spring 2013 College-Prep Showcase held in Overland Park, Kansas. We host only two showcase events each year….one in the Spring and another in the late Fall. These are the only events where we both “Rate” and “Rank” our athletes. Our Ratings and Rankings for each of the recruiting classes can be seen on the prospect rankings tab of our website, KCKicking.com. This showcase featured some of the best kicking prospects in the Midwest. We saw guys competing at a very high level, and we felt our guys did an excellent job handling the weather conditions. It was 68 degrees and sunny, however it’d be an understatement to say there was a slight wind factor. Winds were a consistent 20+ mph.

Noteworthy Performances:

The field goal event consisted of a preliminary round and a finals round. Only the top 10 placing kickers qualified for the finals round. We had 4 kickers go a perfect 8/8 in the preliminary round. In the finals round, half of the finalist went 6/8 or better. Both Brett Garner and Lane Clark went 7/8, however based on the way we score each kick, Lane clark ended up our Field Goal Champion. He hit the ball extremely well all day long. Over the two field goal rounds, he went a combined 15/16. All of his makes went right down the middle and every ball looked the exact same.

The Kickoff competition was very interesting. It quickly turned into a "Home-Run Derby" type atmosphere. Kicking off from the 35 yard line and with the wind howling at our backs, we were able to see over half of the kickoffs land for touchbacks. Ryan Weese was crowned our Kickoff Champion. He averaged 85.5 yards and 3.71 second hang-time over his four kickoffs. That's averaging almost 10 yards behind the endline and uprights on those kicks!

We had three guys in particular stand out during our Punt competition; Chris Brettell, Justin Marcha and Bailey Landwehr (our Punt Champion). Bailey averaged better than 50 yards and 4 second hang-times through both punting sessions consisting of 8 punts each. This was another phenomonal display of talent.
