Prospect Rankings

KCKicking’s evaluation of a prospect is reflected in two ways: rankings and ratings. Previously, the only way to improve your ranking and rating with KCKicking was to attend a College-Prep Showcase; however, due to increased demand, we now provide additional opportunities to increase individual standings. Rankings and ratings are both updated three times per year, after the College-Prep Showcase and Elite Performance Camps (January, June and August).

KCKicking uses this star rating scale to assess a prospect's current level of play.

 Grant Detlefsen
6'4"
205
Grant has the size and frame of an elite level punter. He uses his long levers well. He placed 2nd in our punt charting event at our 2017 CPS. His best ball was a 59 yd, 4.31s hang punt. His skills best suit him as a punter, but he can be a serviceable kicker. All of his mechanics are solid except for his kick foot positioning. He needs to position his foot in more of a club position at impact. As soon as he corrects this, he will see huge gains in his consistency and production. This prospect has no limit on his potential. If he hones in on his skills over the next year, he could be a can't miss prospect!

 Zachary Ramay
6'1"
170
Zachary is a talented punter and has a very live leg. He gets a good foot behind the ball whether he turns it over or not. We would like to see him drive his leg more vertical instead of across his body, but he still shows good production with his current mechanics. He could be serviceable as a kicker with training and additional repetition. He made the punt finals at the 2017 CPS and ended up in 6th place. We see opportunities open for him as a punter at the next level!

 Brett Robertson
5'11"
175
Brett is a very promising kicker/punter combo prospect. He was one of our best competitors at our 2017 CPS. He made both the field goal and punt charting finals. His field goal mechanics are fluid and he hits a repeatable ball. He is already experienced at hitting from the ground. He has excellent size which will serve him well as both a kicker and punter. His technique needs improvement in punting, but with his leg strength he can become a very sought after punting prospect. Look for Brett to compete for top kicker and punter honors by the time he is a Senior!

 Brendan Sine

Brendan has a good frame and is a strong legged kicker. He demonstrated this strength at our 2017 CPS. He hits his field goals from the ground. He missed a few long field goals which kept him out of the field goal finals round. He is capable of hitting one of the biggest kickoffs in his class (3.63s and 67 yd distance) but we didn't see consistent hits from him over a four ball set. Brendan is a very serviceable punter. He made the punt finals round and finished in 5th. We want to see more balls north of 4 seconds, but he showed he has the power in his leg capable of doing this. Brendan is a promising combo prospect!

 Angel Martinez
5'6"
150
Angel Martinez showed he is a talented punter at our 2017 CPS. He participated in all three skills, but was most successful as a punter. His technique looks good and he is able to get decent turn over on his balls. His size would lead you to believe he would be best as a kicker, but at this time his punting skills might be better than his kicking. He can be both a serviceable kicker and punter. He will need to generate more speed in his approach to generate more distance and height on his kicks. He tends to hit the ball off his toe more than higher on his foot. With some training and coaching, Angel can make fast improvements and start to climb the rankings.

 Trey Henry
5'11"

Trey is a developing kicker and punter. He shows good things at times, but working on his technique and posture at ball strike in field goals, kickoffs and punts is needed. He leans forward at strike reducing his ability to fluidly swing up and through the ball. If he positions his kicking foot in more of a club shape he will drastically improve his ball strikes. His kickoffs are his strongest part of his game at this point. He can make huge strides by making a few simple corrections. As Trey develops his production will go way up!

 Jack Palmer

Jack is a committed kicker and punter looking to improve his skills. He competed at our 2017 CPS and showed some good hits. Further development of his technique is needed to create some repeatability in his swing and production. He was our second highest producing kickoff charter in his class. This shows his explosiveness and is promising for his development over the next few years. He is a combo specialist and can prove serviceable in both capacities. He needs to shorten his approach steps on his punts and increase his speed through the ball. Jack has room to grow as a kicking specialist but we believe it won't take long until he sees large gains.

 Dylan Jorgensen
5'9"

Dylan is a very talented kicker and competed very well at our 2017 CPS. He gets extraordinary height on his field goals and is very accurate. He was one of our best performers in this event and made it to the finals round. He finished in 3rd (our highest placing 2019 athlete) and went a combined 13 out of 16 kicks. He was our top placing kickoff guy in his class and had a best ball of 3.76s and 66 yd distance. His production at his age is excellent. To make the jump from a four star kicker to five stars, he will need to demonstrate he can have the same production on field goals from the ground. He shows potential as a punter as he has a very live leg, however, he needs to develop his fundamentals in this area. Very promising prospect!

 Trae Koetter

N/A
Trae competed at both our 2016 and 2017 College-Prep Showcase. We have seen improvement between these two events. Trae is a good high school kicker and will continue to get better as he matures. His mechanics look solid but he needs to make his swing look the same each and every kick. This will come with experience and repetitions. He needs to be more stable in his core during his kickoffs and stand taller through the kicking motion. His crunch at impact is limiting his production. With training, instruction and physical gains in the weight room, Trae could take his game to the next level.

 Andrew McCoy
6'4"
183
Andrew is a tall kicker that is serviceable as both a kicker and punter. He has decent mechanics. He needs more repetitions and experience to increase his repeatability and improve his consistency. We would like to see him make contact with the ball using more of his ankle and top of his foot instead of his instep. This will help him drive the ball better and be more productive on kickoffs. Practice using his hands and a proper drop will improve his ball contact and turn overs for punts. He should release the ball with one hand instead of two. With training, Andrew will make huge strides in all three phases of the kicking game!

 Jaden Gettys
6'0"
160
Jaden made the field goal finals at our 2017 CPS. He has a repeatable swing and showed the ability to control the ball and his target line. He has already made the transition to kicking field goals from the ground. He will need to improve his foot speed to get the production required to take his game to the next level. Strength training and explosive training will immediately convert into kick production. He has shown he can compete. Now we need to see if he can crank up his leg speed and hit the balls that the top guys in his class can. Excited to see Jaden mature as a kicker.

 Trenton Witting
6'1"
180
Trenton is well-built kicker and shows excellent ball striking ability. He charts well for field goals - makes a lot of kicks, and his misses barely miss. He currently hits field goals from a one inch block. His kickoffs are good for his age. His approach is aggressive and he has the ability to hit the ball to the end zone. Continued development on his approach and follow through will help Trenton consistently hit the ball deep. Trenton is serviceable as a punter. His technique is clean, however, we'd like to see him create more power through his approach. One of the top prospects in his class!

 Mykal Wiley
5'9"

Mykal put on a phenomenal performance at our 2016 College-Prep Showcase. He proved to be the best 2019 participant at the event, but also the bet 2019 prospect we have worked with. He finished tied for 5th in the field goal competition (out of 90 kickers). He is a rangy kicker who shows he is explosive and has solid range for his age. The ball explodes off his foot. His mechanics are solid and technique is productive for him. He is also a capable punter. We would like to see him increase his tempo and aggressiveness through ball contact on punts. With some gains in the weight room, Mykal can be one of the best kickers in his class in the nation. Huge prospect with a ton of potential! We are excited to see Mykal's progress over the next few years and help him realize his dream of playing College football!

Matt has excellent size for his age and has been productive kicking for his high school football team. He participates in our 2017 group training program and we have seen him improving his mechanics. Matt is a competitor and can make a lot of kicks. He has the leg strength to be a productive punter but he will need to work on his mechanics and approach to improve his consistency and distance. We are excited to watch Matt compete over the next few years for top honors in his graduation class!

 James Rupp

N/A
James competed in all three charting events at the 2017 CPS. He showed a few great strikes. He will find his target more frequently if he changes his follow through to be more consistently towards his target. He tends to wrap too far past the kick with his leg swing. He would see significant improvement with a few lessons. He will need to make his kicking foot shaped more like a club as his toe tends to lead and make contact first. He needs to develop a routine for punts that takes in straight down field and not rolled out to the side. James shows some promise but needs some guidance to ramp up his production.

 Andrew Thomas

Andrew is a talented kicker. He is still a bit raw, but there is potential here. Field goals and kickoffs are both strong at times. With continued hard work on his technique and overall consistency, he will compete with some of the top kickers in this class. He would benefit from being more aggressive in his approach on both field goals and kickoffs. He needs to develop his mechanics on punting to become more productive in this area. One to keep a close eye on for years to come.

 Lucius Negrillo

Lucius competed at our 2016 College-Prep Showcase. It was encouraging to see him kicking field goals from the ground at this age. He is raw and need some work on his fundamentals, but appears to have the skill set to be a good high school kicker. He competed in all three kicking skills at the showcase. With hard work in the off season and improvement on his fundamentals, Lucius could see huge improvement in a short amount of time. Lucius is a pleasure to work with and a fine young man.

 Cole Junker

Cole competed at our 2016 College-Prep Showcase and showed he is a disciplined kicker and has developed solid, repeatable mechanics. He is a young and developing kicker. He hit all field goals from 40 yards and in at the showcase. To improve his range, he will need to be more aggressive with his lean-off while planting his plant foot. To see increased production on his kickoffs, he will need to increase his speed to the ball and increase his lean off here as well. Cole is a fine young man with a promising future. We look forward to working with and evaluating Cole as he pursues a College football career!

Corben showed well at our 2016 College-Prep Showcase. He is an explosive kicker and can hit the ball well on both field goals and kickoffs. He develops aggressive momentum on his kickoffs and can hit it deep. At times, he hits his field goals pure. Further development on his technique will help Corben be more consistent on his ball strikes. Corben is a talented kicker who has a bright future. Hard work in the off season could put Corben in a position to be competing among the best kickers in his class!

Alex has the size and growth potential to develop into a great kicker. He is already working his FGs from the ground. Improving his athleticism will increase his leg speed, coordination, and balance. This will help him become a more refined and repeatable kicker. We look forward watching Alex's progress over the next 4 years.

 Kameron Lake
5'8"

Kameron first worked with KCK in the summer of 2016. At his charting session, he showed raw mechanics but excellent ball striking ability. After a 1-day camp, his mechanics immediately improved and he developed a repeatable routine. He gets excellent height on his field goals as well as pure ball rotation. He needs to become more explosive on his kickoff follow-through and continually land on his kicking leg after ball contact. He has not developed his punting skills yet. He needs to catch the snap and immediately start moving forward, eliminating his false step backwards. Very promising prospect!

 Spencer Grosz

Spencer began weekly training with KCK in the Summer of 2016. Each time we see him, he shows improvement in his fundamentals and mechanics. At his latest evaluation, the 2017 CPS, he was one of the few underclassmen hitting field goals from the ground. This will help him tremendously going into next year. He already shows the ability to get the ball in the air cleanly and produces solid ball rotations. He builds good speed on his approach for kickoffs but needs to work on his rhythm to be able to consistently get ample hang and distance. He has the leg and now needs to hone in on producing the same ball each and every kick. Very talented kicker. Fluid. Will be successful at the next level.

 Cameron Stone

Cameron is coachable and eager to improve his kicking. He commits to his field goal technique no matter what distance he is attempting. His kickoff setup and approach need some fine tuning in order to keep his tempo, stride length and steps consistent. We'd like to see him hurdle through the ball-strike more aggressively upwards and down-field. Bringing more speed to the ball will help. Overall athletic improvement and building flexibility and strength will help Cameron in all areas of kicking and punting. At punts, he is good at driving his leg upwards instead of across. This will help him through his development. We'd like to see him catch the snaps out in front of him with his thumbs up. It will help to mold the ball parallel to the ground (avoid nose diving down). With hard work and dedication, Cameron could see significant results in a short amount of time!
