Prospect Rankings

KCKicking’s evaluation of a prospect is reflected in two ways: rankings and ratings. Previously, the only way to improve your ranking and rating with KCKicking was to attend a College-Prep Showcase; however, due to increased demand, we now provide additional opportunities to increase individual standings. Rankings and ratings are both updated three times per year, after the College-Prep Showcase and Elite Performance Camps (January, June and August).

KCKicking uses this star rating scale to assess a prospect's current level of play.

 Tommy Heatherly

Tommy is perhaps the strongest kicker/punter combo in his class. At our 2016 CPS, he hit 66 yard, 5.33 hang punt, the biggest punt we have ever seen in the history of our events. He went on to become the punt champion with an average of 53 yards and 4.64 hang. These are D1 and pro numbers! He has an incredibly strong leg and is very explosive through his hips. Tommy excels at kicking as well. He hits a consistent ball, gets great height and distance. He made the FG finals at the 2016 CPS and finished 12-16 on his kicks and finished 6th on kickoffs. His technique is repeatable and remains fluid throughout the entire kicking motion. Tommy will continue to grow as a kicker/punter combo specialist. He'll earn his spot on a division 1 roster as a punter and will compete at both skills for starting positions.

Gabe is one of the more talented kickers in his class. He finished 2nd in punting and 7th in kickoffs among a field of 90+ athletes at the 2016 College-Prep Showcase. He generates excellent ball strikes and power on his kicks. He is a true combo specialist capable of playing both kicking and punting positions at the next level. His punting technique is solid, repeatable and explosive. With continued hard work and development, Gabe will be ready to play on Saturdays.

Alec is one of the more skilled punters and kickers in his class. He has a good drop and is able to turn over a lot of his punts. His miss-hits are still decent balls. He is an extremely reliable kicker. He won the 2016 CPS field goal competition (90+ participants) by going a perfect 8 for 8 in the finals round. He's one of the top punters in his class and would be one of the top kickers in his class as soon as he adds more distance and hang on his kickoffs. Alec is dedicated to becoming an outstanding kicker and punter and is a pleasure to work with. Will be an excellent addition to any College football program!

It was clear to us when we first started working with Jake in the Spring of 2015 that he had the skill set to become a Division 1 level kicker. He has put in a lot of hard work since then, and has made huge improvements from this past Spring to the end of the summer (2016). His ball now flies off his foot and makes long kicks look effortless. His mechanics are solid and repeatable. Jake is most effective on field goals when he relaxes and attacks the ball. He shows some inconsistencies when he starts to aim the ball and not release in his follow through. He is one of a few high school aged kids we've come across that is able to hit above a 4.0 hang - 75 yard kickoff. Jake is also a talented punter. He finished in 3rd at the 2016 College-Prep Showcase. His best ball at this event was a 4.9 hang/54 yd ball. As of December 2016, Jake will be attending K-State as a preferred walk-on.

Albert had a very strong showing at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He had the best punt preliminary charting session out of everyone in his class. His best ball was a 4.48/50 yard strike. He gets great extension in his follow-through. We'd like to see him control his drop on the same plane from point of catching the ball to releasing the ball from his hand. He has a tendency to raise his drop as he going into his last step. Albert is a talented punter capable of playing at the next level. Look for Albert to compete during his senior season campaign as one of the best not only in his region but also in the nation!

It's easy to say Jack is one of the best kicker/punter combo specialist in the nation. His production in all three areas is outstanding. He outright won the 2015 College-Prep Showcase kickoff competition (upperclassmen included!) out of 100 participants, finished in 2nd in punting and was one kick short from making the field goal finals. His best kickoff was a 4.0/75 yard ball and best punt was a 4.51/49 yard ball. He is small in stature but makes up for it in his explosive swing. On kickoffs and field goals he strikes the ball very well and gets similar ball flights and rotation from kick to kick. Jack should see some serious interest from College coaches in the Spring of 2016 and should have options early in the recruiting process!

Kyle is a true punter who demonstrates excellent mechanics. At times, he's very consistent and turns the ball over well. He is a strong directional punter and shows the ability to pin returns on both sides of the field. His tendency is to rush and try to hit the ball too hard. When he relaxes and swings easy, he sees his best hang-times. He is a student of his craft, always looking for ways to get better. His mold and drop is relatively consistent, only dropping the nose of the ball too far inside occasionally. Kyle demonstrates excellent flexibility and range of motion. Improved muscular explosiveness will help Kyle realize additional production in both hang times and distance on his punts. Solid true punter prospect!

Alexis is an impressive kicker/punter combo specialist. At times, hes shows he has one of the strongest legs in his class. He is an accurate kick, has quality ball strikes and can compete. He made both the field goal and punt finals at the 2016 College-Prep Showcase among of field of 90+ athletes. He is a larger athlete, but has great flexibility and fluid swinging motion in both kicking and punting. The best punt we've seen him hit is 4.61 hang and 55 yard punt. He's able to turn a lot of his punts over. He'll improve in this area once he lowers his drop as well. Alexis has a ton of upside and will be very serviceable at the College level!

Dominic had a phenomenal performance at our 2015 EPC - Wichita Camp. He went a perfect 8/8 on FG charting, backed up to 60 to win the charting playoff, and then won the last man standing competition by hitting a 65 yd FG. At our 2015 College-Prep Showcase, he was tied for 2nd after the conclusion of two field goal charting sessions (out of 100 athletes). He has a repeatable swing and is a pure ball striker and makes kicking look easy. He is one of the toughest competitors we've ever seen. He's an un-questioned 5 star kicker as soon as he improves his kickoffs. He's made a flawless transition to hitting field goals from the ground. His punting technique is great. He turns the ball over well. He is capable of hitting the long ball. Dominic shows potential to be one of the top combo specialists in the nation.

Liam has repeatable kicking mechanics which is shown in his field goal and kickoff approach, swing and follow through. He demonstrated a strong leg by putting on an impressive showing at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He finished 4th at kickoffs (2nd in his class) and in the top 10 at field goals. He went 10-12 on the combined field goal charting sessions. His ball striking skills are excellent. Liam is very focused and pays close attention to ways he can improve. We told him he needed to increase his production on kickoffs this past summer. Four months later, he proved to be one of the best in his class at kickoffs. He has good fundamentals for punting but will need to increase his explosiveness through ball strike. He is very serviceable as combo specialist.

Parker has excellent size and is stronger than most of the other kickers and punters in his class. He showed very well during the kickoff and punting charting sessions at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He finished in 6th at kickoffs (3rd in his class) and 19th in punting. On kickoffs he is able to generate a lot of momentum into the kick and he transfers this momentum well through contact. He can consistently hit 4.0 plus hang-times on kickoffs. He is capable of hitting 4.4+ hang-time/40 yard distance on punts. Although he missed a few field goals at the Showcase, Parker's swing mechanics are solid and we are confident in his ability. With continued hard work and development, it's realistic for Parker to end up as one of the top field goal and punt prospects in his class by the end of his high school career!

Matt showed well at our EPC St. Louis (2015) event. He hit the longest FG during the camp of 55 yards during the FG charting. He has a long and natural swinging motion. His hips tend to open a bit too soon which sometimes compromises his ball-striking. He hits one of the best kickoffs in his class. He is strong as a punter. He could straighten his swinging motion so he isn't cutting quite so much on the ball. He is a legitimate combo prospect which can produce at both skills.

David has great ball striking ability on field goals and kickoffs. He showed well at our 2016 CPS in both field goal and kickoff charting events. David has the size and fundamentals to take his kicking to the College level.

Nathan is a well trained kicker and shows fluidity and precision in his kicking mechanics. He has competed extremely well at every event he's charted for us. He went a perfect 8 for 8 at our July 2016 charting event and then hit a bonus 55 yard field goal. Nathan converted to kicking from the ground in 2016 and finished in 3rd place at our 2016 College-Prep Showcase by hitting 13/16 overall field goals. He consisently hits his kickoffs with better than 3.8 hang-time. His distance needs to improve by about five yards to be able to immediately take over kickoff duties at the D1 level. Nathan is a division 1 level kicking prospect also capable of handling some punting duties at the next level.

Cody competed at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He showed he is a combo specialist talented at all three kicking positions. We like his aggressive approach on kickoffs. With some small adjustments with his posture during the follow through (tends to slightly crunch), he'll be able to realize improved distance and hang times. For field goals, Cody needs to reduce his upper body movements as he's making contact with the ball and shortly after contact (again eliminating his crunch-like motion). Cody is a strong punter. He gets the ball in the air well and can turn over some punts. We'd like to see Cody mold and hold the ball on the same plane so he doesn't vary the height of his mold during each step of his approach. Cody is dedicated and has proven he'll go the extra mile to be successful. With some small adjustments, Cody will realize significant improvement in his on-field production.

Jared is currently kicking off of the ground and showing great ball contact. He gets consistent rotation on the ball and is very accurate. One thing he can work on is his follow through after striking the ball. Instead of landing on his kicking foot, we would like to see him land on his plant foot and get a skip-through. This will allow him to finish with better body position and will alleviate any unnecessary stresses on his body, and let him generate more power through the ball. It will help him to keep his hips angled towards the ball longer through his approach so his toe doesn't open up too soon during the swing portion of the kick. We'd also like to see him kick with confidence. His follow-through looks like he is aiming the ball instead of directing the ball to his target. On kickoffs we'd like to see him explode of his planting foot upwards and down field to transition his momentum from his approach through his swing. Overall athletic improvement will help him take his game to the next level. A more aggressive lean-off on field goals will help him make the transition for hitting field goals from the ground. Paul can serve as a backup punter in a pinch. He is primarily a kicker and will be reliable for his high school team.

Maverick is a punter who can also kick in a backup role. He has the ability to turn punts over and achieve decent hang times. He needs to improve his strength and leg speed to see increased distance and hang times. As a kicker, he needs instruction in order to establish his mechanics. Will hard work and dedication, Maverick will be an asset to his high school football program.
