Prospect Rankings

KCKicking’s evaluation of a prospect is reflected in two ways: rankings and ratings. Previously, the only way to improve your ranking and rating with KCKicking was to attend a College-Prep Showcase; however, due to increased demand, we now provide additional opportunities to increase individual standings. Rankings and ratings are both updated three times per year, after the College-Prep Showcase and Elite Performance Camps (January, June and August).

KCKicking uses this star rating scale to assess a prospect's current level of play.

Tucker is the most gifted specialist we have seen at the high school level. He can crush FGs, KOs and Punts. He is the TOP prospect in his class for both field goals and punting. He has earned an automatic invite to the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl game as well as the Siemper Fi All-American Game. He is capable of hitting 65 yard FGs and 4.8+ second/50+ yard punts. At the 2015 College-Prep Showcase, Tucker was the only participant to go a perfect 8 for 8 in the FG charting session as well as 5 for 5 during the DARI swing analysis charting session. Tucker was offered a scholarship by Alabama, Mizzou and Florida State during the Spring of his Junior year. Tucker is committed to Mizzou and is enrolled for the Spring 2016 semester. Huge pick-up for the Tigers!

Joe is one of the best punting prospects in the class of 2016. He won the punting competition (out of 74 participants) at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. The punt finals round was done in 45 degree weather during pouring rain. He was still hitting 4.8+ hang-time, 50+ yard punts! He has a consistent, repeatable, pure swing. He gets excellent extension through ball contact. We'd like to see him catch snaps with his thumbs up for quicker molds, but he's shown he has excellent ball skills and good hands. Joe is being looked at by multiple division 1 schools. He is worthy of a scholarship and capable of playing immediately!

Jackson has developed his skills and has become one of the best punters in the Midwest. His best ball is as good as anyone we have ever seen. He's capable of putting up 4.8+ second hang times beyond 50 yards distance. He is incredibly strong and puts up big numbers in the weight room. He was in 2nd place after the preliminary punt round at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. Jackson can fill an immediate void for punter as well as kickoff specialist at the division 1 level. On kickoffs and field goals his ball flight is inconsistent at times, but he still proves to be very serviceable in these positions. We've seen him hit over 4 second hang-times on his kickoffs. We are excited to see where his journey takes him!

Justin put on an impressive performance at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He went a perfect 8 for 8 during the FG preliminary round and finished 3rd out of 105 participants. He has a smooth leg swing and utilizes his length to his advantage. He gets excellent hip extension in his leg swing recoil allowing him drive the ball high and far after ball strike. He is one of the best competitors in his class. He put on one of the top punting performances at the showcase as well by finishing 5th in the event. His skills as a punter are not as great as his kicking, but he is a true dual threat prospect. He is capable of hitting 4.8+ hang-time and 45 yard punts. Justin is a D1 kicking and punting prospect and will be heavily looked at and scooped up quickly! Contact this prospect now!

Robbie performed extremely well at during the punting competition at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He placed 3rd in the punting competition and 10th in the kickoff competition. We've seen him hit punts 4.6+/50+ yards. His technique is solid. His miss-hits are acceptable. Robbie is also a legitimate KO specialist and can offer to fill FG backup duties. Robbie was selected for a Blue-Grey All-American Bowl game roster spot. Robbie is capable of contributing at the Division 1 level.

Matt is one of the best combo prospects in his class. He is more experienced as a kicker, but he excels as a punter. His hands are great, drop is consistent and swing is pure. He does an excellent job of focusing on hang-time and not out-punting his coverage. He won the last man standing field goal competition at our EPC St. Louis (2015) event by hitting a 55 yard FG. His strikes are pure. When he is on, he is capable of hitting the same ball over and over. Although he started slow at our 2015 College-Prep Showcase, he showed some resiliency by making his last 8 field goal attempts. He was selected to a Blue-Grey All-American Bowl game roster spot. Very intriguing prospect. He will get interest as both a kicker and punter at the division 1 level.

Tommy put on an excellent performance at both the 2015 National Kicking Combine and Blue-Grey Super Combine. He's earned an automatic spot on Blue-Grey Football's All-American Bowl Game roster. He qualified individually in both punting and kicking skills. Tommy has the ability to FGs all day long and make each ball look the same. He has great flexibility and extension through his swinging motion. Improvement on his KOs will get him to a 5 star rating. As a punter, Tommy has demonstrated the ability to put the ball above 4.0s hang consistently. We'd like to see him lower his mold early in his approach and leave it there throughout the approach. His ball-striking ability alone is what makes this prospect so promising. One of our best dual threat guys in the class of 2016. Polished combo specialist ready to perform at the D1 level!

Robert is true punter who can add value as a kicker in an emergency role. He has a huge leg. He's a very strong athlete who can use his strength effectively in the leg swinging motion. We've seen Robert three times in the last 6 months. He has improved his punting technique, but further development is necessary. At times, he's capable of producing punts beyond 50 yards and 4.7 hang-times. He needs to shorten his steps and lower his drop so his mold drops without ball rotation. His best ball is already as good as anyone in his class. Robert has the intangibles of a D1 punter. With some development, the sky is the limit for this prospect!

Todd is an extremely gifted combo specialist. He has an extremely efficient leg swing, is fluid, and very repeatable. We'd like to see him lengthen his approach just a bit as he has a tendency to get too deep on his plant foot. He is also a skilled punter. He is very consistent with his drop and leg swing, helping him to turn-over (spiral) a high percentage of his punts. We have worked with and seen Todd a handful of times over the past 3 years. He has proven to be a resiliant competitor and capable of getting the job done at both kicking and punting. Todd has a very bright future. Todd will earn a scholarship, land at a D1 program, and is capable of filling an immediate void at either kicking or punting positions!

Cooper is a talented kicker capable of making a lot of kicks. He has room for improvement considering his technique could use some work. We'd like to see him limit the rotation in his hips just before ball contact. This will control the angle at which he can position his foot for ball strike as well as help him generate more power through the swinging motion at ball strike and shortly there after. He went an impressive 6 for 8 during the 2015 College-Prep Showcase field goal charting session. Cooper finished 12th out of 105 kickers during the kickoff competition and finished 6th in punts. Cooper has a lot of upside potential. He is already producing at a high level and is capable of even more with some subtle corrections.

Julius was our top all-around performer at the 2015 National Kicking Combine. He placed in the top 5 in all events (FGs, KOs and Punts). This effort earned him a selection to the Blue-Grey Super Combine to compete for a spot on the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl roster. His swinging style is extremely repeatable. He locks in on the target and can hit with accuracy. He is productive on KOs. He placed 5th on kickoffs at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase out of 105 kickers, as well as made the field goal finals by going 7 out of 8 during the preliminary round. Julius is a very skilled punter. He demonstrates clean mechanics, is very repeatable, has great hands and has a consistent drop. He can turn the ball over more than 50% of the time. He is truly a combo prospect who can compete at the highest level of College football immediately! Selected to the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl game played at EverBank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

JT is one of the best kickers in the class of 2016. He showed extremely well at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He went 7 for 8 in the preliminary field goal charting round. He has a consistent leg swing and he utilizes his long legs well. JT has made a lot of improvement in the last year. He's grown taller and added strength and has directly seen improvements on the field as a result of these gains. He has a tendency to hit too high on the football on kickoffs, but when his timing is right and ball-striking is pure, he can hit one of the best kickoffs in his class, reaching 4.0+ hang and 65 yards. He is also a legitamite combo prospect capable serving as a starting kicker and punter at the next level. He showed the ability to hit a 5.0 hang-time punt. He needs to be more consistent with his ball turnover, but its clear he will excel at this skill with more work and time. JT will land at a Division 1 program and is capable of pushing for a starting role in his first season!

Ryan is a combo specialist and is equally skilled at both positions. His build gives him greater growth potential as a punter at the next level, however, he is a talented kicker. He went 6 for 8 at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase field goal charting session, including a 50 yarder. He was 1 of 10 selected to the 2015 Blue-Grey All-American Bowl Game Super Combine to compete for an All-American Bowl game roster spot. On kickoffs, he needs to control his mis-hits so he can consistently drive the ball further and with greater hang-times. As a punter, we'd like to see Ryan shorten his approach steps. He demonstrates great hand-eye coordination and athleticism. Ryan is a good fit for a major College football program where he can develop for another year.

Franky is a gifted combo prospect. He'll be most service-able at the next level as a punter and kickoff specialist, but has proven to be competitive at FGs as well. His performance at the 2015 National Kicking Combine earned him a selection to the Blue-Grey Super Combine. On FGs, Franky's swing is very repeatable and fluid. He maintains proper body positioning. Improvement on ball striking would help Franky improve his rating. His mechanics for punting are raw. We'd like to see him extend the ball out in front of him with one hand and hold onto the ball longer in his approach. Even with his current mechanics, Franky can smash the ball. His best ball will compete with anybody in his class. His leg strength helps him even when he doesn't hit the ball as well as he is capable. With a little bit of direction, Franky will see significant improvement. His size and intangibles are enough to take a chance on this prospect!

Chad started out as a kicker and recently switched his focus to punting. From what we've seen, punting plays into Chad's strengths. He shows an aggressive leg swing and good technique. We see him taking his game to the next level as a punter. He'll be able to kick in a backup role. Chad is a determined athlete who has put in the work to get to where he is today and we are certain he'll continue developing as a combo specialist.

 Gage Romans

Gage has grown a lot as a kicking specialist over the past few years. He's been known as a consistent field goal kicker, but he's become a weapon as a punter, utilizing his tall frame for leverage to generate power. We'd like to see him work on his flexibility so he can drive through a greater range of motion in his punt follow through. On field goals and kickoffs, he'd benefit from working on his lean-off at ball strike. This should help him become a better ball striker as well as get better rotation on his kicks. He needs to work on his kickoff approach for steps and timing. He looked out of sync the last time we saw him hit some kickoffs, but we know he's capable of hitting it deep with good hang-time when he puts it all together. Very bright future for this combo prospect!

Ben has developed into a quality kicker over the past year. We've worked with him at multiple camps and lessons and has proven to be coachable and is passionate about his craft. He has excellent ball stirking skills and gets excellent trajectory on his field goals. Improve strength and flexibility will help him become more productive on kickoffs. His steps and tempo looks good, but harness a bit more explosive swing will help him increase both his hang-time and distance. His kicking skills and fundamentals are superior to his punting at this time, but his productive at punting leads us to believe he can be servicable as both a kicker and punter at the next level.

Paul is strong and has an excellent frame for kicking and punting. At the 2015 College-Prep Showcase, he showed he is capable of hitting a clean ball with great power, height and ball rotation. He needs to improve the consistency of his hits from kick to kick, but we feel he is on the path to becoming a College ready kicker. He is a strong kickoff guy producing hits right around 3.6 hang and 60 yards distance. At this time he is stronger as a kicker than punter, but considering his size, he could easily develop into a true punter quickly. He can reach hang times north of 4.0 with good distance. Big upside potential with this prospect!

Logan graduated high school in 2015 and is looking to enroll for the Fall 2016 semester. Logan attacks the ball when he is punting. We'd like to see him transfer this motion upwards during and after contact with the ball. If he can sit back and stand taller, he will see improved hang-times as well as enjoy a follow-through which is fluid. His distance is solid but hang-times need improvement. We'd like to see him shorten his approach and improve his ball striking. Logan has the tools to become a good punter.

Logan competed at the 2015 National Kicking Combine as one of our true punters and finished in 6th during the punt charting. He is aggressive in his steps and has great hands. Improvement on his drop can be achieved by altering his grip to an undergrip instead of a dart-like grip. Keeping his steps short will help prevent an over stride during the approach phase. Logan should aim at getting his punts to a minimum of 4.0 sec hang-times. Improving his consistency and best ball will help Logan move up the rankings in a short amount of time!

Jesse is a kicker/punter combo specialist who is currently more skilled as a punter. He has a live leg and is capable of making solid contact on a consistent basis. We'd like him to avoid swinging across his body and hold onto the ball slightly longer in his drop. He has excellent tempo on his field goal approach and is very consistent while using a 1 block. He has not made the transition to the ground, yet. To transition to the ground, Jesse will need to make ball contact more towards the inside and top of his ankle while engaging his quads more than his groin. Jesse excels at kickoffs, capable of driving the ball deep and getting 3.6+ sec hang-times.

This would improve his consistency as well as ball striking ability. Sterling could be a legitimate dual-threat prospect. He will need to further develop his fundamentals in punting. Clayton has demonstrated he has skills comparable to some of the best kickers in his class. His A ball is as good as anyone's. He has FG range well beyond 50 yards. He does an excellent job at focusing on hang-time for his KOs. For FGs, he'll need to slightly adjust his body position at ball strike in order to improve the consistency of hitting quality ball strikes. He can produce as a punter. His fundamentals are not as well developed here, but we see opportunity in this area. He is reliable in all aspects of his game; FG, KO, and punt. He hits a clean ball on FGs. He would benefit from generating a little more rotation through his hips at ball-strike. He is capable of hitting a kickoff with 4.0 hang-time and a punt with 4.2+ hang-time. Bailey tends to over-stride in his punt approach. We'd like to see him shorten his first step. His mechanics need some tuning, however, his flexibility and strength enable him to be productive at this time. We'd like to see him shorten his steps and accelerate through the approach. His drop is making him chase the ball outside of his right hip. Taking straight steps and molding the ball straight in front of his right hip will help. We'd also like to see him lower his dropping point. To take his game to the next level, we'd like to see his punts consistently in the 4.0 sec hang-time range. Lots of room for development. He would benefit from a strength and conditioning program working on his explosiveness so he can improve his range and increase his trajectory. This would also assist in adding more distance and hang on his kickoffs. His leg swing is fluid and mechanics are repeatable. Jake's ball strikes are solid. He can add value as a back-up punter and will turn some balls over from time to time. Jake is capable of kicking at the next level with continued hard work and dedication.

Blake participated in our EPC event in St. Louis (2015). He showed decent ball-striking ability and a fluid leg swinging motion. His follow-through needs improvement to help him become more accurate. He is currently using a 1 block on his FGs. We'd like to see him make the transition to hitting from the ground over the next few months. He'll need to develop his rhythm for his KOs. If he can improve this area, he'll fly up the rankings. He can fill in as a punter in a back-up role.

Zachary is a combo specialist and is capable of producing quality field goals. Zachary shows poise while kicking and is very focused. He gets excellent trajectory on his hits. We'd like to see him adjust his follow-through in his swinging motion so that he follows through more directly towards his target or even slightly left of his target. He sits a bit too much at ball-strike causing him to fall off to the right. This correction should help him increase his range. On punts, his drop and mold are solid. His leg swing range of motion is a little restricted. We'd like to see him explode through the ball more aggressively. At this time, he can serve as a back-up punter. Zach can play immediately at a mid-level College or higher if improvement is realized in the upcoming months and year.

Phillip is a combo specialist who competed in the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He shows shows the ability to hit a quality field goal, however he will need to improve on his consistency for the College level. To improve his ball-striking, he needs to open his foot up and not allow his toe to make contact with the ball. He demonstrated ability to turn some punts over. He will need to develop his fundamentals to imrpove his distance and hang as wel as consistency for punting. Phillip is dedicated to kicking and punting and will grow into a solid College kicker with more attention to his craft.

Dalton is a talented kicker who has sound fundamentals. He gets the ball in the air well, hits straight balls and gets true end over end rotation on his field goals and kickoffs. He gets good hang-time on kickoffs but needs to continue working on his distance. He can provide assistance at the punting position. He is not as talented as a punter but shows he has the ability to develop into a College prospect as a punter as well. He's an extremely reliable kicker who could be very serviceable immediately as a short range kicker and would develop his range with another year under his belt.

Colton competed at the 2015 College-Prep Showcase. He showed he has a live leg swing. He needs to work on his fundamentals and become more repeatable so his accuracy improves. On punting, he needs to work on an approach and follow through he can rely on and perform each and every time. He both kicks and punts but serves best as a punter at this time. Further development is needed to take his game to the next level.

Livan competed at the 2015 National Kicking Combine. He hasn't made the transition to kicking from the ground yet, but is very serviceable from a block. He gets excellent height and solid ball rotation. In the next few months, Livan needs to develop kicking from the ground. He attacks the ball well on KOs. If he can increase his hang-times to 3.8 range and 65+ yards, he will jump in the ratings/rankings. He's a combo prospect whose skills are superior as a kicker at this time. He'll need to lower his drop, stay more linear and improve his hands skills/mold to become a more consistent punter.

Jacob has a consistent drop on his punts and demonstrates superior flexibility. He has a fast leg and is able to adjust to different drops. He needs to work on some technical aspects of punting, but with minor improvements, he will increase his ability to turn balls over and get higher hang times.

Tyler has a great frame and has potential to be a very strong kicker. At times he can hit a decent field goal, but he needs to work on his consistency. He has a tendency to plant his left foot too shallow so he is hitting the ball too late in his swing. He is able to drive his kickoffs deep but would need to improve on his hang time for College. Tyler's skills as a punter are undeveloped. His drop needs a lot of improvement so he is able to mold the ball and drop it without the ball rotating on him. Tyler has the potential to play College ball at a mid-level program, but improvement between now and then is needed.

Bryce has a fluid swinging leg motion and good footwork. His follow-through on field goals pulls him to the left more than preferred, but he is able to repeat this motion and has incorporated it well into his style. His ball striking skills are excellent, but he'll need to become more consistent with hitting his target. His kickoff steps and tempo looks good, but he'll need to become more explosive and increase his flexibility to become more productive at kickoffs. He has developed significantly in the last year leading us to believe he can kick at the next level at a small to mid level College football program.

Gavin achieves excellent range of motion with his leg swing as well as stays fluid through the swinging motion. His live leg allows him to hit the ball well at times. We'd like to see him approach the ball faster on field goals, get a deeper plant foot on KOs as well as identify steps that'll be consistent for his KO approach. At this time, he has a tendency to over-stride on his punts. Shortening his stagger step at his starting stance could help. With a few of this corrections, Gavin could start to see significant improvement!

Ben is aggressive on FGs and KOs. He competed at the 2015 National Kicking Combine. We'd like to see him approach his FGs without rounding out his approach steps. To improve his ball contact, he'll need to roll his foot over the top and keep his big toe from coming forward at point of strike. Ben's tall frame should help him grow as a punter. At this time, his technique needs some tuning. He'll need to straighten his approach, release the ball with one hand and get the ball out in front of him so he can use his leverage (length) to his advantage. Athletic prospect with a lot of potential.

 John Buckley

We have worked with and seen John kick multiple times over the past calendar year. He has made improvements. He is a stronger kicker from the left hash compared to the right hash. He tends to alter his approach angle to the ball and doesn't get the same height as he does from the left hash. To become a College kicker, John needs to increase his distance/hang-time on kickoffs as well as increase his range on field goals. His fundamentals are decent, but could use some tweaking. Overall athletic improvement(strength and speed) would help John realize opportunities to play College football.

Nathan is a combo specialist. He is able to hit punts that are reliable and shows signs of quality field goal kicking. His area for most improvement is to increase his leg speed and clean up his ball contact. Some refinement of his technique would go a long way. Nathan can hone his skills and rise through the ranks. Look for Nathan to be a dual threat K/P and find success during his senior season campaign!

Deon competed at the EPC camp in St. Louis (2015). He is a gifted athlete and has a very strong leg. We would like to see him convert his kicking swing into more of a soccer style swing. At this time, he is stronger as a punter. By the end of the camp, he was starting to spiral some of his punts. If Deon sticks with it and incorporates the fundamentals, he will quickly improve.

Bailey showed solid ball-striking ability and a very live leg at our EPC event in St. Louis (2015). After ball-strike, his follow-through is inconsistent. He finishes shorter range field goals in a controlled manner, and then sometimes does a kickoff hurdle on his longer field goal attempts. He is currently using a 1 block on his FGs. We'd like to see him make the transition to hitting from the ground over the next few months. He is a very raw punter. Working on his mold and drop will help him improve the soonest as a punter.

Bligh competed in the 2015 College-Prep Showcase and showed well at times. He demonstrated he is an accurate kicker at short distances. His misses came from only his longer kicks. He will need to improve his range on field goals as well as his distance/hang-time on kickoffs. On both field goals and kickoffs, he tends to plant too short. Now that he is kicking from the ground, his ankle will need to be parallel with the ball, and just slightly behind that point for kickoffs off a 1" block. Adjusting his plant foot will also allow him to generate more height on his kicks.
